It was founded in 1691 with a separate shrine and a lecture hall, and received a royal plaque from King Sukjong 3 years later. It was torn down in 1871, and only the lecture hall was rebuilt in 1924. After Yuksinsa Shrine was built in Myogol Village in the 1970s and the tablets were moved there, the academy has been used as a jaesil (ritual hall). It has no admission fee, and parking is available.
