It began when his descendants built a shrine in 1735 (year 11 of King Yeongjo), and it was called Bongsanseowon from 1803 (year 3 of King Sunjo). After the academy disappeared under the 1864 order demolishing seowon, the lecture hall Jihaengdang, the shrine Bongamsa, and the west dormitory (seojae) Songdokjae were newly built in 1996. After you pass the raised main gate, Jihaengmun, the Muntan Son Seonsaeng Yuheobi monument is on the right. Two signboards, 'Bongsanseowon' and 'Jihaengdang,' hang on the lecture hall opposite. It is always open and has no admission fee.
