Bakgokseodang Village School is a memorial lodge (jaesil) and seodang (village school) honoring Jeon Baek-yeong, who served as a provincial governor and as Minister of Rites under King Taejong of Joseon, and it was rebuilt in 1964.
The lecture hall, Sungjeongdang, is a 5-bay building with a hip-and-gable roof. The gate, Angjimun, is a 3-bay raised main gate in which only the center bay serves as the door. To the east, across one wall, stands Oksan Historic House, the head family house of Munpyeong-gong. You must inquire in advance to visit.

How is the jaesil at Bakgokseodang Village School related to Hancheonseowon Confucian Academy?
In about 1872, the jaesil was rebuilt with timber from Hancheonseowon Confucian Academy, which was torn down under the 1871 order abolishing seowon. A fire broke out later, and it was moved to its present site.
