Ocheonseowon is an academy built in 1744 (the 20th year of King Yeongjo) to honor Daebong Yang Huiji (1439–1504), who rose to Inspector General (daesaheon) during the reign of Yeonsangun.
It sits on the south slope of a low hill in a valley at the edge of Pa-dong. It follows the 'shrine on the left, lecture hall on the right' layout, with the shrine on the east and the lecture hall on the west. A wall of earth and stone divides it into two areas. The shrine area is one step higher, and a separate small gate connects the two areas. It is always open, and admission and parking are both free.
