It was founded in 1708 as Deokdongseowon to honor U Hyeon-bo and the righteous army leader U Bae-seon. It was lost to the order abolishing seowon and was rebuilt in 1965, when it took its present name. It now also enshrines U Tak, Sin Hyeon, and U Gil-saeng, and holds a memorial rite every year in lunar March.
