Gwak Anbang was selected as an incorruptible official (cheongbaengni) in 1463 (the 9th year of Sejo). When Heungseon Daewongun ordered the seowon abolished, only the lecture hall, the outer three-door gate and the caretaker's quarters remained. The shrine was rebuilt in 1954, and the east and west dormitories were built in 1982. It now consists of 8 buildings. It is always open, and parking is free.
