In the Silla period, an earthen fortress and a temporary royal residence (haenggung) stood here, and in the Joseon period, a beacon fire tower stood here. A lookout now stands on that site. Inside the park are Hwawonjeong Pavilion, a lawn plaza, a wildflower area and a small zoo. Run by Dalseong-gun Office, the park has the duck electric car (weekdays: child 2,000 won, adult 3,000 won; weekends: child 3,000 won, adult 4,000 won) and the Samunjin Picnic Area (7,000 won–10,000 won). Next to the parking lot are Samunjin Ferry Landing and a tavern village (jumakchon). The SBS drama Gwaenchanha Sarangiya was filmed here.
