How to get to Donghwasa Temple
It was first built in 493 under the name Yugasa. In 832, when Simji rebuilt it, paulownia flowers bloomed in midwinter, and the temple took its present name. Trails of Palgongsan National Park split off here. The path up to Yeombulbong Peak and Dongbong Peak via Yeombulam Hermitage starts at the temple, as does the path to Doma Pass (Sillyeong Pass) and Bareun Pass via Pokpogol Valley. It is open at all times, has parking, and runs a temple stay.
